BRAC

I have to admit I really like those videos listed on blackboard. I found the achievements showcased in the BRAC video to be very inspiring. It was impressive as not only did BRAC have the insight that to create local level education programs focusing on women and children would alleviate the issue, but they have created a self-sustaining organization that embraces several business ventures. The size and sustainability they have afforded themselves is a testament that organizations can be successful if they make smart decisions, with so many organizations out there plagued by erred beliefs and graft, it almost makes one think it was impossible.

Yes Brian, I think most students enjoy the videos also. It’s a new method of learning in our public health program. Personally since I have a visual memory it is very useful and interesting for me.
BRAC Video presents so much information that often I feel overwhelmed. Creating the sustainable program is a great method to go with. One of the main challenges that Public Health Professionals face with is the issue of sustainability, which we can overcome by working together globally and also involving welfare programs supported by governmental and non-governmental organizations. This way our hard work will not get wasted!

Agreed - the videos are sweet...

One analogy given in the BRAC video struck me: that BRAC has done what McDonald's has done but instead of selling burgers they are saving lives.

I thought to myself what a tremendous difference corporations could have on their respective communities (and the global community as a whole), if they established more of a commitment to meeting the needs of the people in their communities rather than turning over a significant profit. BRAC provides an inspirational example indeed :)

I am really impressed with BRAC too. It is an outstanding example of how there is more than just financial benefits to investing in a community.

refer to Jack's most recent post for more on Social Entrepreneurship. It falls in line with BRAC and a slew of other organizations.

BRAC is truly inspiring, and I agree with Wilson and David. Wouldn't it be nice if more companies and countries realized the value in investing in their people?
